Stocks rose Wednesday, 1/18/12 … but, we’re still in a wait-and-see mode to see what the bulk of earnings look like … The S&P 500 ended above the psychologically-important 1,300 mark for the first time since 7/28/11. The Nasdaq also finished in positive territory. The CBOE Volatility Index, widely considered the best gauge of fear in the market … tumbled near 20.
Closing Bell: The NASDAQ closed UP +41.63 (+1.53%) to 2,769.71. The Dow closed UP +96.88 (+0.78%) to 12,578.95.
