Northern Star says drilling at Malartic-Midway continues to develop project’s gold potential
Northern Star Mining Corp said the latest drill results from its wholly owned Malartic-Midway gold project in Quebec, Canada, continue to develop the project’s gold potential and discover gold mineralized zones.

Surface drilling targeting lower grade mineralization of the types mined by Osisko in the Canadian Malartic gold deposit and Agnico-Eagle in the Goldex deposit returned 46.3 metres at hole MC-08-142 at a grade of 1.10 grams per ton of gold.  This included 1.5 metres at 8.9 g/t gold and 4.5 metres at 5.19 g/t.

Other highlights included hole MC-08-145 intersecting 3.7 metres at 8.32 g/t of gold and hole MC-08-139 encountered 17.4 metres at 1.65 g/t.

Highlights of deeper drilling at the Chebala zone included 3 metres at 4.10 g/t and 5 metres at 1.75 g/t at hole MC-08140 and 4.50 metres at 3.13 g/t gold at hole MC-08-132.

Northern Star is scheduled to start its 2009 surface exploration program by mid-March. Drill target areas include the South Porphyry in the Osisko boundary area, Midway mine sector, Blake River, Briar Depth and South Briar extensions, and L-Zone.
