Smartcool Systems completes 25 store contract from UK supermarket Sainsbury
More good news for shareholders in Smartcool Systems (TSX-V: SSC). The company announced today that it had completed a contract to install its Energy Saving Module in 25 Sainsbury’s supermarkets in the United Kingdom. Sainsbury’s (LSE: SBRY) is the UK’s third largest supermarket group, behind Tesco (LSE: TSCO) and Asda (a subsidiary of Wal-Mart).
The installation program consisted of three stages, an initial test store followed by a further 7 store assessment. Upon consideration of these results, Smartcool was commissioned to install the Energy Saving Module in a further 17 stores. Smartcool said the Energy Saving Module would reduce total store electricity costs between 3.5% to 4.5%.
"We have enjoyed significant business and environmental gains over the last three years with our Reset program and our extensive testing has shown that the Smartcool ESM will be a key addition to our list of Energy Reduction initiatives," said Jeremy Waters, Energy Manager of Sainsbury’s. "The energy savings we are experiencing… have led to valuable cost benefits and is helping us meet our Environmental targets"
