IBC Advanced Alloys announces extension for IEA beryllium workshop submissions
IBC Advanced Alloys (CVE:IB) said Monday that the deadline for abstract submissions for the 10th IEA International Workshop on Beryllium Technology has been extended.
The workshop, hosted by IBC in association with the IEA and the International Organizing Committee, will be held from October 23 to 26 in Vancouver, Canada. Submissions for potential presentation and publication will now be accepted until June 15.
The objective of the workshop is to disseminate the results of research in areas relevant to the use of beryllium in nuclear power systems, both fission and fusion. A wide range of presentation topics are encouraged for submission, IBC said.
Vancouver-based IBC, with facilities in Indiana, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Missouri, manufactures and distributes rare metals-based alloys for a wide range of industries including nuclear energy, automotive, telecommunications and a number of other industrial applications.
All abstracts for the workshop should be submitted electronically through the web-based submission platform, which is available at www.bews10.com. Submissions will be reviewed by the workshop's program committee, and should focus on one of the following topics:
-- Production, forming and joining
-- Chemical compatibility and corrosion
-- Irradiation effects
-- Neutron, He and H-Isotope effects
-- Microstructural evolution
-- Mechanical & physical property degradation
-- Composition control and characterization
-- Modeling and experimental validation
-- Thermal and mechanical properties
-- Monitoring, disposal and recycling
-- Health and safety issues
-- High heat flux performance
-- Plasma/tritium interactions
-- Beryllide applications
-- Beryllium oxide
