WPG Resources dispatches coal core samples from Penrhyn to Evergreen Energy’s test facility
WPG Resources (ASX: WPG) is expecting results shortly from two diamond core holes which were specifically drilled to provide samples for testing at Evergreen’s K-Fuel test facilities in Wyoming.
The drilling program at WPG Resources Penrhyn coal project, which is located south west of Coober Pedy in South Australia, has almost finished.
By the end of May just 2 of the 34 hole program remained to be drilled.
Penrhyn will form part of the proposed joint venture with Evergreen Energy Inc (NYSE Arca: EEE), which was announced to the market earlier this year.
Penrhyn is a sub-bituminous coal deposit and is strategically located 25 kilometres from the rail loading loop, and a similar distance from the accommodation village and haul road that will be built for the company's flagship Peculiar Knob iron ore project.
Penrhyn is therefore ideally situated to benefit from this infrastructure and the company’s Port Pirie export facility.
Importantly for the project, WPG Resources said drilling results to date have been in line with expectations.
