Healthcare communications company Vocera Communications Inc (NYSE:VCRA) has bagged a US$14mln contract from the Department of Defense – its biggest ever contract win.
The company said its wireless, hands-free communications technology will be deployed in US Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) facilities around the world this month.
The Department of Defense selected Vocera after extensive research conducted by the Army.
“Vocera is proud to be the standard for wireless hospital communication for the US Army Medical Command world-wide,” said Brent Lang, president and chief executive officer of Vocera.
“In mission-critical environments such as hospitals, it’s vital for mobile workers to have reliable technology that connects them instantly with the right person or information at the right time to deliver high-quality care and ensure patient safety and satisfaction,” he added.
Shares in Vocera rose by 50% in 2016.
