Customised electronics supplier Acal Plc (LON:ACL) has created a new role within the company as it looks to accelerate its merger and acquisition (M&A) activity.

Jeremy Morcom will join the business as group M&A director next Monday (13 March).

Acal has created the new position as it looks to push ahead with its well established strategy of acquiring “high quality, complementary” businesses to grow its design and manufacturing division.

The Guildford-based company said Morcom will be responsible for the leadership and delivery of the group’s acquisition strategy; including pipeline development and deal management.

Morcom – who will become a member of the group executive committee – has more than decade’s worth of experience in investment banking.

He has overseen more than 40 transactions during the course of his career, including leading M&A programmes at FTSE 250-listed businesses Spectris plc (LON:SXS) and Invensys PLC.

“Jeremy brings valuable M&A experience to the group at an exciting time for the business and I look forward to working closely with him as we continue our strategy to build a highly differentiated, international electronics business,” said chief executive Nick Jefferies.

Shares opened modestly higher at 214.25p.
