The firm has suspended all water disposal activity at its well

Canada Energy Partners Inc  (CVE:CE) has been ordered by the British Columbia Oil & Gas commission to suspend all water disposal at its well in the northeast of the province.

The authority cited concern over enhanced seismicity alleged to be related to water disposal, the firm said.

The firm immediately ceased disposing and has secured the well.

The commission gave no evidence of increased seismicity related to the well but referenced increased seismicity in other areas of British Columbia, it added.

The order said Canada Energy "has met the conditions" stipulated in its disposal permit.

The order "shall remain in effect until amended or terminated in whole or in part by the Commission…pending a review of additional technical information."
