Pershing Gold hoping to strike lucky at Blackjack project area in Nevada

Pershing Gold Corporation (NASDAQ:PGLC, TSE: PGLC), has initiated a drilling program in the recently consolidated Blackjack Project Area in Nevada.

The project is located some six miles south of Pershing's Relief Canyon mine. Blackjack is comprised of seven historic mercury and antimony mines.

“With the recent consolidation of the district, for the first time Pershing Gold is free to fully explore the highly prospective Blackjack Project Area,” said Stephen Alfers, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Pershing Gold. 

“We are hopeful that the drilling at Blackjack will result in the discovery of satellite deposits on our 25,000 acre land position, which could extend the life of the entire project.”

Shares rose 1.5% to US$2.68 in morning trade.
