Crypto enthusiasts were holding out hope for the first Bitcoin exchange-traded-fund but alas, their dreams have been dashed.

The Winklevoss twins, founders of the Gemini crypto exchange, proposed a Bitcoin ETF for the second time after being denied once before last year, as per a CNBC report. The US Securities and Exchange Commission once again voted down the proposal 3-1.

The twins argued that Bitcoin markets were “uniquely resistant to manipulation” but the SEC wasn’t buying it, expressing concern about the potential for fraud and investor protection.

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:APPL) has also cracked down on crypto, banning mining on its mobile devices.
