Great Quest Metals’ development efforts are moving forward at the Tin Hina phosphate concession

If the world economic recovery continues, the optimism over agriculture stocks should certainly follow suit. Canadian Venture and Frankfurt listed Great Quest Metals Ltd. (TSX.V: GQ, Frankfurt: GQM) has wasted no time since its acquisition of Tin Hina phosphate concession in eastern Mali, West Africa. The company has commenced a preliminary programme of sampling and mapping at the concession. Great Quest holds an 88% interest in the company holding the concession.

During the programme, 26 grab samples were taken from exposures of rock over a distance of 6,870 metres along the southeast and south side of a hill where a layer of phosphate rock occurs within a Middle Eocene sedimentary sequence. Results of the analyses of these samples ranged from 5.11 to 33.05% P2 O5 and averaged 24.50% P2 O5.  The thickness of the zone of phosphate rock, where observed, ranges from 0.40 to 1.7 metres.  The P2 O5 occurs mainly in the mineral apatite

The depth of the phosphate rock on the southeast side of the hill is approximately 8 metres.  It is overlain from top to bottom by phosphate rock with laterite, phosphate with gravel, phosphate with laterite, phosphate with clay and finally pink clay and yellow sandstone.  Assays from one pit along the section above the bed of phosphate rock returned values below 1% P2 O5.

Great Quest is bracing for a busy 2H2009 and expects more development at Tin Hina. The next programme will consist of a combination of RAB drilling and the digging of pits on a grid over the part of the hill north of the southern slope to define a NI 43-101 compliant resource.

In addition to the phosphate project, Great Quest also has gold projects including the Baoule River gold concession in south-western Mali, West Africa. Together with Great Quest, there are other companies engaged in the development of gold properties around the Baoule River gold concession. For instance, Kalana Gold Mine owned by Avnel Gold Mining Ltd is just 44 km to the northwest of Baoule River.  The December, 2006 resource estimate for the Kalana Mine showed a total measured and indicated resource of 981,000 ounces of gold at an average of 10.2 g/t as well as a total inferred resource of 257,000 tonnes at 3.52 g/t.  The geology of the Kalana Mine consists of gold occurring mainly in flat-dipping quartz veins, but also in quartz stockworks, in metasediments adjacent to a diorite stock.

About Great Quest

Great Quest holds projects in Mali and British Columbia, Canada. The current focus however is Mali, a country considered highly prospective for the discovery of gold. The company’s gold projects include Baoule River, Kenieba & Baroya concessions and the Bourdala concessions. In addition GQ has the Tilemsi phosphate project.
