Trevali confirms "thick, massive" sulphide zones at Stratmat deposit, it says
Trevali Mining (TSE:TV) said Monday that recent results from the ongoing drill program at its Stratmat zinc-lead-silver-copper deposit, located in the Bathurst Mining Camp of northern New Brunswick, has confirmed the presence of thick massive zones of sulphide mineralization.
The drill results, which are part of a 5,000-metre diamond drill program on the property, indicate a new wide zone of near-surface mineralization, which remains open along strike and at depth.
Significant results include hole ST-712, which intersected 13.32 metres grading 7.54 percent zinc, 2.48 percent lead, 72.47 grams per tonne (g/t) silver, 0.43 percent copper, and 0.93 g/t gold on the Main Zone, and 10.61 metres grading 3.82 percent zinc, 1.05 percent lead, 36.5 g/t silver, 0.16 percent copper, and 0.92 g/t gold on the Main Zone footwall.
Hole ST-717, meanwhile, returned 27.32 metres grading 4.02 percent zinc, 1.49 percent lead, 50.27 grams per tonne (g/t) silver, 0.21 percent copper, and 1.07 g/t gold on the Main Zone, including 14.0 metres grading 5.02 percent zinc, 1.8 percent lead, 58.18 g/t silver, 0.23 percent copper, and 1.23 g/t gold.
Hole ST-723, which was also drilled on the Main Zone, and was the deepest hole to date, intersected 8.01 metres grading 0.34 percent zinc, 0.05 percent lead, 69.38 g/t silver, 0.35 percent copper, and 0.14 g/t gold, including 0.22 percent zinc, 0.02 percent lead, 16.0 g/t silver, 2.36 percent copper, and 0.87 g/t gold over 0.79 metres.
In addition to these results, Trevali said the program also established the continuity of the Main Zone footwall lens, which is expected to add new tonnes to the resource base.
Hole ST-714, for example, intersected 4.99 percent zinc, 2.13 percent lead, 134.78 g/t silver, 0.41 percent copper, and 0.24 g/t gold over 1.47 metres in the footwall of the Main Zone.
The drilling program, which is expected to continue through this month, is also intended to convert a significant portion of the NI 43-101 resource estimate to a higher confidence category, from its current inferred level.
The latest estimate for the Stratmat deposit, which was completed in November 2008 by Wardrop Engineering, had 5.52 million tonnes grading 6.11 percent zinc, 2.59 percent lead, 0.4 percent copper and 54.21 g/t silver in the inferred category.
The next phase of the Stratmat drill program will focus on the S1 and Central Zones, which are located to the west of the Main Zone.
In Toronto, Trevali shares rose 6.92 percent to $1.39, as of 3:12 pm EDT.
