Ventana Gold says drilling at La Bodega gold project shows extension of mineralised structure

Colombia focused gold miner Ventana Gold Corp (TSX: VEN) has announced results from eight additional holes on its La Bodega gold project, which confirmed the extension of the La Mascota zone.

Two step-out holes drilled on the El Cuatro/Coloro border 300 metres southwest of the current known mineralisation intercepted mineralisation characteristic of the La Mascota zone, confirming the extension of the La Mascota structure. The remaining holes represented infill drilling along the previously defined 800 metre length of the La Mascota zone.
The results included intercepts of 9.40 m (metres) graded at t 22.80 g/t (grammes per tonne) of gold, 22.70m at 12.29 g/t gold, 110m at 4.84 g/t gold and 6.40m at 21.37 g/t gold.

“These latest drill results indicate the La Mascota zone continues along strike to the southwest and at depth,” said president and chief executive of Ventana, Steve Orr.

Another section is currently being drilled 100 metres southwest of section 9000E on the Coloro/El Quatro border to continue exploration of the strike extent of La Mascota.

The company said La Mascota infill drilling was on schedule, with the first NI43-101 compliant resource expected by the end of Q1 2010.

Shares in the company rose 1.5% on the news in early trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
