Redknee and Microsoft set to transform business support billing through joint initiative

company news image

Ontario headquartered billing software specialist, Redknee (TSX: RKN) has agreed an alliance with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), which will extend its reach into Microsoft’s global markets. According to Redknee, the alliance will transform the OSS/BSS (Operational Support Systems / Business Support Systems) by providing the first and only real-time expanded software solution.

"We are delighted to announce this joint initiative with Microsoft. Leveraging Microsoft's powerful Dynamics CRM platform with Redknee's real-time billing and customer care software solution brings a broader set of business-critical tools to the market”, Redknee Chief Executive Lucas Skoczkowski said. “This partnership will increase opportunities for Redknee and Microsoft as we leverage Microsoft's global expertise and partner channels for a broader reach into new regions, helping to expand our share of the market".

Redknee will utilize tools and technology within Microsoft Dynamics CRM and other Microsoft technologies to bring a comprehensive, real-time converged billing product to market. According to Redknee the deal will benefit clients through faster ‘time-to-market’ for new services, reduce costs and improve business decision making as a result of advanced reporting and analytics.

"As services converge and churn causes revenues to erode, telecommunications service providers must transform their operations and business models to deliver new services to market faster and at a lower cost”, Microsoft Corp’s Telecommunications MD, Terry McGuigan. “Our relationship with Redknee enables service providers to reduce time to market for new offerings, improve the subscriber experience and ultimately monetize these value-added services".

OSS/BSS are essentially the support systems for telecommunications networks, OSS deals with the telecomnetwork itself, supporting processes such as network maintenance, network configuration and fault management. BSS refers to the customer facing business systems which support processes such as the receipt and delivery of orders and billing.
