Solex says initial results from Peru’s Macusani South are not as good as hoped, but company has identified more promising targets
Solex Resources Corp said initial results of first phase diamond drilling at the Macusani South project in the Macusani uranium district of south-eastern Peru are not as encouraging as the group had expected, adding it will continue to focus exploration efforts at the more promising Macusani West area.
The initial review of data from the Macusani South drilling programme indicates that the uraniferous mineralisation observed at surface does not continue at depth despite the widespread anomaly outlined through radiometric surveys. No assays have yet been performed on these samples, but will be once preliminary leach test results are available, the company said.
President and chief executive Jonathan Challis said: “We will target the extensive Yapamayo and Sapanuta structures that occur in other areas, notably on Macusani West, which we have identified as more prospective targets for a bulk mineable uranium resource."
