Mantra Venture Group
Mantra Ventures Group getting close to a technological breakthrough in non food stock ethanol
In the face of rising energy prices attempts to promote green technologies have gathered pace. Several companies are now focusing on technologies such as renewable energy. US OTC and Frankfurt listed Mantra Venture Group Ltd (OTCBB. MVTB.OB, Frankfurt: 5MV), through its subsidiaries, is focused on number of niche revolutionary technologies which will minimize the impact of human activity on climate, environment and health. These activities include CO2 capture sequestration, underground injection, Evaluation of the marketplace for carbon reduction vendors, Increasing power efficiencies and Wind, ocean & geothermal power. The company is also engaged in Fuel cell technology commercialization, Fuel cell technology commercialization and energy management consultancy.
For some months Mantra has been looking for a way to make a difference in the transportation sector with a technology capable of reducing its reliance on Fossil Fuels. The ongoing work being done on Hydrogen fuel cells and batteries to power vehicles of all kinds seems, after review, to be aimed more at the future. In the immediate term, Mantra has decided that a renewable fuel like ethanol would be highly desirable (and attractive in the marketplace) if it were not based on corn as its feedstock. Corn-based ethanol is now seen in North America as undesirable both economically and politically.
Mantra reckons that cellulosic ethanol, ethanol derived from wood and agricultural waste, would be a solution. Cellulosic ethanol is an inexpensive and readily available feedstock. However, no technology is available today that satisfies Mantra’s exacting standards. Mantra therefore is currently negotiating with Northwind to form a Cellulosic ethanol JV. The technology promises to be more economic than ethanol from corn, practical in operation, clean and able to power itself by using material superfluous to the core process. The objective is to change the economics of ethanol manufacturing, to produce ethanol at well below $1 per liter.
