Zinc recycler Zincox Resources (LON:ZOX) achieved another production record in January at its plant in Korea.

There have been a number of start-up problems at the facility in the past but today Zincox said it had been in continuous operation since December 18 with operating costs in line with long term targets.

Zincox’s technology recovers zinc from steel mill furnace dust (EAFD) and its plant treated 16,414 tonnes during the month.

That was 92% of nameplate capacity and 10% ahead of the previous record set last October.

Zinc recoveries over the month was 90% against a target of 95% which Zincox said should mean an underlying profit of [EBITDA] of US$650,000 based on zinc  prices at US$2,122 per tonne.

Output will be lower in February due to a maintenance stoppage and less EAFD being available due to reduced production by the Korean steel industry.

Zincox is looking for additional sources of EAFD, with new supply contracts expected to be in place by the end of March.
