Fission Energy to cut costs and sharpen focus on Waterbury Lake
Fission Energy (TSX-V:FIS) joined the growing number of exploration juniors to announce a significant range of measures to cut costs while sharpening focus on their most promising projects.Fission Energy said it has executed a series of cost cutting measures, including a 20% salary cut for senior management, effective January 1, 2009, to ensure the company would not need to return to the markets in the near term. Fission’s cash position currently stands at approximately C$3.2 million, and is free carried through a C$4 million 2009 exploration campaign at Waterbury Lake. Fission Energy is the operator, while the Korea Waterbury Lake Consortium, led by Korea Electric Power Corporation, are earning into the project. A ground gravity survey is currently being completed in the “Discovery Bay” area, ahead of a planned 6,000 metre winter drill program to further test the Discovery Bay Zone.
