Golden Goliath Resources Ltd. is a junior exploration company focused on exploring and developing the gold and silver potential of an historic mining camp located in the world famous Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains of northwestern Mexico. Unlike most juniors, which have an option to earn an interest in a single property or a few scattered properties in various areas or countries, Golden Goliath controls an entire old mining camp, or district, that covers an area of 15 by 25 kilometres, with numerous past producing gold and silver mines dating back to the time of the Spaniards. Golden Goliath’s Uruachic claims are owned 100% by the Company and are fully paid for with no property option or purchase payments to make.
Golden Goliath starts drilling Las Bolas-Los Hilos gold project in Mexico
Golden Goliath Resources (TSX-V:GNG, OTC:GGTH-F) has begun its diamond drill program on the Las Bolas / Los Hilos project in the Uruachic mining district in north-western Mexico. The 4,000m drilling program got underway on 13 July, and the second hole of the program is currently being drilled.
The company has contracted a minimum of 4,000m drilling, for several surface targets - which include Filo de Oro, Los Hilos, Las Bolas-Gambusino, Frijolar, Corazon and Providencia. An underground drilling program is expected to follow, which will be carried out under a separate contract.
The drilling program has four key objectives: to significantly increase the existing inferred resource; to substantiate a potential target in the western portion of the property; to define a resource in and around the high grade Los Hilos workings; and to evaluate the rapidly developing open pit potential of the Filo de Oro trend, at depth.
According to Golden Goliath, Filo de Oro has two components: a large surface zone – 200 to 440m wide and approximately 230m thick - which overlies near-vertical high-grade-vein feeder zones, which are beneath and cut through the surface zone.
“The roughly north-south Filo de Oro trend is a topographic high located at the east end of the east-west Las Bolas, Frijolar and Corazon trends. These three east west trends host the other 12 known vein systems on the Las Bolas property and the main Las Bolas Mine workings which were the focus of the NI 43-101 report completed last fall.
