Camino Minerals Corp. is a new mineral exploration company that was formed in connection with Goldcorp Inc.'s acquisition of Canplats Resources Corp. ("Canplats"). Camino is led by Canplats' former management, has approximately C$10-million in the treasury and is focused on precious and base metal projects located in Mexico.
Camino Minerals Completes First Phase of Exploration at Four Properties in Mexico
Camino Minerals (TSX-V:COR) has said it has completed the first phase of exploration at its El Rincon Gold Project, Mecatona Gold Project, Rodeo Gold Project, and the Maijoma Claim Group, all located in Mexico.
Data from the exploration initiative will be released in due course, said the company.
Airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys, totalling 8,885 line-kilometres, were conducted at Camino`s four mineral projects.
In addition, the El Rincon and Rodeo projects were mapped, and soil and stream sediment geochemical surveys will be conducted.
A ground geophysics program will also be conducted at the El Rincon Project during the second phase of exploration to help further define targets for a fall drilling campaign, the company said.
Separately, Camino has appointed Francois Gaboury as chief geologist. Gaboury has more than 25 years of experience in the mineral exploration and development industry, having worked in Argentina, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Peru and Mexico.
He has previously worked as a senior geologist at Minera Barrick Misquichilca S.A., a subsidiary of Barrick Gold, and Teck Resources.
