Fortuna Silver reports solid drill results from San Jose silver-gold project

Fortuna Silver Mines (TSX-V: FVI) reported further encouraging drill data from its ongoing in-fill drilling program from the Trinidad Zone of the San Jose silver-gold project in Mexico.

Fortuna released results from 33 new holes which are part of a wider 33,000 meter program that commenced in June 2008 and it anticipated to be finished shortly.

Highlights from drilling included several wide zones with decent grades, including 12.2 metres (estimated true thickness) grading 2.8 grams per tonne gold and 285 grams per tonne silver from drill hole SJO-166 and 8 metres grading 6 grams per tonne gold and 973 grams per tonne silver.

Infill drilling at San Jose is part of a wider study in redeveloping the mine.  Fortuna is also undertaking preliminary mine design work, hydrological studies, tailings dam design work and metallurgical test-work.

Fortuna Silver announced in August 2008 that it would acquire Continuum Resources to consolidate its holding at San Jose to 100%.
