Ceragon Networks Agrees To Supply Wireless Equipment To Russian Subsidiary of Tele2
Ceragon Networks (NASDAQ: CRNT) announced today that it has entered a multi-year agreement to provide wireless equipment to the Russian subsidiaries of Tele2, a major telecommunication company based in Stockholm, Sweden. The terms of the agreement were undisclosed.
Under the agreement, Ceragon will provide Tele2 Russia with the FibeAir IP-10 product, a high-capacity wireless backhaul solution, which will allow Tele2 Russia to build networks with high capacity to support data traffic requirements for services such as internet browsing, music and video applications.
The wireless backhaul solution uses microwave technology to transfer telecommunication traffic between base stations and the core of the service provider’s network.
Ceragon said shipments of the FibeAir IP-10 product are already underway.
According to Ritvars Krievs, chief technology officer of TELE2 Russia, Ceragon’s FibeAir IP-10 will help the company minimize network costs in select areas. With about 17.3 million customers in 37 regions in Russia, Tele2 Russia is the fourth largest mobile operator in the country.
