Canada's most followed Tuesday including BlackBerry, WestJet, Yellow Media, Bell Aliant, Primaris, Great Panther Silver, Northland Resources, and Newcastle Minerals

In Canada Tuesday, shares of BlackBerry (TSE:BBY) (NASDAQ:BBRY) rose over 6% Tuesday, as its new BB10 smartphone and operating platform launched in Canada amid indications of strong demand in the U.K.

According to early reports, Rogers Communications (TSE:RCI.B) (TSE:RCI.A) and BCE (TSE:BCE) have said that preorders of the all-touch Z10 device are strong in Canada.

WestJet Airlines (TSE:WJA) gained 2.3% after it reported a record monthly load factor for January as the number of passengers grew 6.4% to 1.5 million.

Air Canada (TSE:AC.B) will also report its monthly traffic numbers Tuesday, ahead of its quarterly results on Thursday.

On the earnings front, Yellow Media (TSE:Y) Tuesday said fourth quarter profits fell on a hefty impairment charge, while print revenues continued to decline.

Bell Aliant (TSE:BA) said it earned $70 million or 31 cents a share in the fourth quarter, a $10-million decline from the same period of 2011 and well short of analyst estimates. Adjusted earnings came in at 37 cents, also missing expectations of 41 cents.

Elsewhere, H&R REIT (TSE:HR.UN) and a KingSett Capital-led consortium have combined to buy Primaris (TSE:PMZ.UN) in a deal that will see more money for Primaris unitholders, Primaris' operating platform and 25 shopping centres in the hands of H&R REIT and 18 properties under the control of KingSett.

On the metals and mining front, Great Panther Silver (TSE:GPR)(NYSE MKT:GPL) says it has been successful in underground drilling at its Guanajuato Mine Complex in Mexico, intersecting high grades in the historic Valenciana area and finding two new zones of silver-gold mineralization in the Guanajuatito region.

TNR Gold Corp. (CVE:TNR) says it has finalized the settlement announced back in November with McEwen Mining (NYSE:MUX) (TSE:MUX) relating to their ownership dispute on the Los Azules copper project in San Juan province, Argentina.

Northland Resources (TSE:NAU)(OSLO:NAUR) says it has cancelled its planned US$375 million debt and equity offering announced late last month to help with its funding shortfall related to a production ramp-up at one of its projects. The producer of iron ore concentrate has a portfolio of production, development and exploration mines and projects in northern Sweden and Finland.

In the junior resource space, Newcastle Minerals (CVE:NCM) (USOTC:NCMBF) has found a mineralized gold horizon at surface on its Fault Creek project in northwestern Ontario, which it says is consistent with past-producing mines in the region.

Rock Tech Lithium (CVE:RCK) says it is reviewing proposals from geological and engineering companies regarding its planned preliminary economic assessment (PEA) report at its Georgia Lake lithium project in Ontario.

In analyst research reports Tuesday, Jennings Capital analyst James Humen has backed his buy rating and price target of C$8.50 per share on Gran Tierra Energy (TSE:GTE), after the oil and gas company released its year-end reserves.

Casimir Capital has maintained its $1.50 target on Palliser Oil & Gas (CVE:PXL) with a strong buy rating, with "more clarity" on 2013 budget and production guidance. The company announced a capital budget of $24 million this year, and provided a production forecast of 2,700 to 2,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Casimir also discontinued formal coverage on Prophecy Platinum (CVE:NKL) owing to a change in focus at the capital markets firm. That said, it still plans to monitor the company's ongoing progress in its periodic mining monitor watchlist.
