Google reports stronger-than-expected Q1 net; revenue misses
Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), operator of the world’s largest Internet search engine, reported better-than-expected net income in the first quarter as advertisers increased spending. However, sales fell short of analyst projections. "We are working hard and investing in our products that aim to improve billions of people's lives all around the world," a statement quoted CEO Larry Page as saying.

LinkedIn plunges as downbeat Q2 forecast overpowers strong Q1 results
LinkedIn Corp. (NYSE:LNKD), the biggest online professional-networking service, tumbled more than 9 percent after forecasting downbeat second-quarter revenue that overshadowed better-than-expected first-quarter earnings. The shares fell to as low as $182.61 in premarket trading in New York on Friday. LinkedIn said in a statement late Thursday that its revenue for the April-to-June period would range from $342 million to $347 million, below the $359.2 million predicted by 24 analysts.

Facebook Q1 revenue tops expectations on mobile advertising; shares rise
Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB), the largest social-networking service, marked a 38 percent jump in first-quarter revenue that surpassed expectations as the company made more money from mobile advertising. Shares gained in premarket trading. Revenue in the three months ended March 31 rose to $1.46 billion from 1.06 billion, in the year-earlier period, the Menlo Park, California-based company said in a statement after U.S. markets closed on Wednesday.
