Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) shares broke a new barrier as momentum builds ahead of the first few announcements at its three-day developer retreat in San Franscisco. For the first time in its history, Google's stock rose above $900 this morning after analysts at Jefferies reiterated their Buy rating and $1,000 price target.

Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), operator of the world’s largest Internet search engine, reported better-than-expected net income in the first quarter as advertisers increased spending. However, sales fell short of analyst projections. "We are working hard and investing in our products that aim to improve billions of people's lives all around the world," a statement quoted CEO Larry Page as saying.

Internet search engine Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) will pay a $7 million fine in the United States for collecting personal data without authorization via its Street View service.

Shares of Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) rose over five per cent in premarket trading Wednesday, as the search engine giant posted fourth-quarter earnings and sales that topped analysts’ expectations.

Search engine giant Google (NASDAQ:GOOG ) saw shares slip over one per cent Tuesday, ahead of the release of its fourth-quarter earnings results, which are expected out after the closing bell.

Notwithstanding the controversy, the IPO was the biggest in Internet history. Facebook raised $16 billion, also ranking it as the third highest IPO in U.S. history.  It's a feat beyond what Zuckerberg, who claims he never wanted to actually run a company in the first place, ever dreamed.

LinkedIn Corp. (NYSE:LNKD), the biggest online professional-networking service, tumbled more than 9 percent after forecasting downbeat second-quarter revenue that overshadowed better-than-expected first-quarter earnings. The shares fell to as low as $182.61 in premarket trading in New York on Friday. LinkedIn said in a statement late Thursday that its revenue for the April-to-June period would range from $342 million to $347 million, below the $359.2 million predicted by 24 analysts.

Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB), the largest social-networking service, marked a 38 percent jump in first-quarter revenue that surpassed expectations as the company made more money from mobile advertising. Shares gained in premarket trading. Revenue in the three months ended March 31 rose to $1.46 billion from 1.06 billion, in the year-earlier period, the Menlo Park, California-based company said in a statement after U.S. markets closed on Wednesday. 

Shares of Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) were higher Thursday, after its much-anticipated launch event wrapped up with the unveiling a new HTC phone that is equipped with the new product, “Facebook Home”. 

Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) saw its shares fall over six per cent Thursday after reporting mobile revenue growth that missed some analysts' expectations, despite a 40 per cent jump overall revenue amid a solid quarter in which sales and profit beat Street views.
