Yoga-related apparel maker Lululemon Athletica (NASDAQ:LULU)(TSE:LLL) Thursday beat Street expectations with fourth-quarter earnings that included the busy holiday shopping season.

The Canadian yoga athletic apparel retailer posted a huge jump in year-over-year sales, hiking to $186.8 million, compared to $138.3 million in the year prior. Online sales increased 51% to $13.8 million, or to 7.1% of total revenues.

The New York listed shirt and neckwear company is paying €1.924 billion in cash and issuing €276 million in PVH common stock (approximately 8.7 million shares) to fund the transaction.

Great things come from small beginnings and that is certainly the case for global sportswear apparel manufacturer Adidas (ADDYY). The company began life in the home of one Adi Dassler, who decided to make sports shoes in his family home. The operation soon outgrew its modest production facilities and with the help of his brother Rudi, Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory was born.
