BlackBerry smartphone maker Research in Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM)(TSE:RIM) posted a drop in fiscal fourth-quarter earnings late Thursday as it saw a drop in shipments and said it would stop issuing earnings guidance.

Research In Motion's (NASDAQ:RIMM) (TSE:RIM) Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie bowed to investor pressure over the weekend and resigned as co-CEOs.

Blackberry maker Research in Motion (RIM) (TSE:RIM) (NASDAQ:RIMM) plunged in after-hours trading Thursday and extended its losses into Friday morning, after announcing low expectations for its fourth quarter, and delays that won't see its newest BlackBerry devices hit the market until late 2012, re-igniting investor doubt in the company's sustainability.

Activist shareholder Jaguar Financial says holders of at least 8% of BlackBerry maker Research in Motion's (NASDAQ:RIMM)(TSE:RIM) shares have backed the Toronto-based merchant bank's calls for a sale of the Waterloo-based tech company or a management re-organization.

Several analysts have also shed support for the tech company, whose products were once synonymous with corporate success. The latest in a string of downgrades comes from National Bank Financial, which moved RIM down to "underperform" from "sector perform", on lower profits resulting from service revenue
