Australia reported that its economy grew 1.2% from the first quarter, the fastest pace in the last three years.  The second quarter growth rate exceeded analyst estimates of 0.9% gain.

Corus Entertainment (TSE:CJR.B) said Thursday its second quarter profit rose as revenues were up eight percent on growth in its television unit.

Television and radio broadcaster Astral Media (TSE:ACM.A) (TSE:ACM.B) reported 10 percent growth in second quarter earnings Wednesday, but revenue missed analyst estimates.
