Syrah Resources (ASX code: SYR) is an Australian resource company with a diversified exploration portfolio located in southeast Africa. The company is rapidly progressing its core Balama Graphite Project in Mozambique, with the aim of establishing an initial mineral resource in the March quarter, 2013.
Syrah's exploration portfolio also includes a strategic mineral sands project in Tanzania, comprising eight tenement areas, some with high grade historic heavy mineral intersections, and the recently acquired Nachingwea graphite project in Tanzania.

LYNDHURST, SOUTH AUSTRALIA (50%)
Syrah Resources has an active joint venture with Zurich Resources Pty Ltd covering two granted Exploration Licences at Lyndhurst, South Australia. Each party has 50% ownership in the joint venture. Zurich are currently fully funding and conducting exploration programs to eventually earn 80% ownership at the completion of a Bankable Feasibility Study.
The Lyndhurst project is prospective for oxide and sulphide copper. Syrah was successful at delineating oxide copper mineralisation at the White Lead prospect in 2008.
Zurich has focused its exploration programs on sulphide copper and during 2011 identified several high priority drilling targets using geophysical surveys.
SAUDI ARABIA (100% OWNERSHIP)
On 7 November 2012, Syrah signed a Memorandum of Understanding with an investment syndicate comprising both Saudi and Australian interests that will result in Syrah divesting a 90% ownership stake in its Saudi subsidiary holding a portfolio of Saudi Exploration Licence applications.
The two parties are currently finalising a formal agreement to execute the sale of this asset. This transaction when completed will result in Syrah having a minor and passive interest in the Saudi entity.
TOM EADIE B. Sc. (Hons) M. Sc., F.AusIMM, SA Fin
In addition to being the Chairman of Syrah, Tom Eadie is also the Executive Chairman of Copper Strike Ltd, an ASX-listed resource company.
Prior to his role at Copper Strike and Syrah, Tom had twenty years of experience within the junior resources sector, including one year running Austminex NL, and at technical to senior executive levels with major mining companies including Pasminco, Aberfoyle Resources and Cominco. At Pasminco, he was Executive General Manager – Exploration & Technology for 11 years. At Aberfoyle, he began as Chief Geophysicist before being put in charge of all mineral sands and base metal exploration. He is a past board member of Royalco Resources Ltd, the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AUSIMM) and the Australian Mineral Industry Research Association (AMIRA).
Tom has a B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of British Columbia, a M.Sc. in Physics (Geophysics) from the University of Toronto and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia (now the Financial Services Institute of Australasia).
Tom was appointed Chairman of Syrah in 2007.
Paul Kehoe B.Bus (Acc.) CA., Grad.Dipl.sci (with First Class Honours), MAusIMM
Paul is both an accountant and a geologist. As a Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Business (Accounting Degree) he worked in senior management roles in firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and Grant Thornton. His area of expertise was corporate finance and restructuring.
He subsequently returned to university to study geosciences and completed his first class honours in geology. Paul worked for a group of ASX listed resource companies and performed company secretarial functions, business development and geology roles.
Paul was appointed Managing Director of Syrah in December 2011.
Mike Chester B. Com, ACA
Non Executive Director
Mike Chester has 27 years experience in the areas of investment banking, mining company research and analysis and funds management with companies including Salomon Smith Barney/County Natwest and McIntosh Securities.
Mike was a top rated mining analyst for many years prior to moving into corporate advisory/investment banking roles. He has originated IPO's and equity placements across the industrial and mining sectors for listed and unlisted entities, and has significant expertise in financial modelling, funds management and project analysis. In addition, he has provided corporate advisory and investor relations services for a number of industrial and resources companies.
Mike is a non-executive director of each of the following ASX listed entities: NuCoal Resources NL, Guildford Coal Limited and Blackfire Minerals Limited. Mike was appointed a director of Syrah in December 2011.
Ms MELANIE LEYDIN
Ms Melanie Leydin was appointed Company Secretary in 2011.
Ms Leydin graduated from Swinburne University in 1997, became a Chartered Accountant in 1999 and since February 2000 has been the principal of chartered accounting firm, Leydin Freyer.
Her practice involves outsourced company secretarial and accounting services to public companies in the resources sector. This involves preparation of statutory financial statements, annual reports, half year reports, stock exchange announcements and quarterly ASX reporting and other statutory requirements. Her practice also audits listed and unlisted public companies involved in the resources industry.
