"I am very pleased to announce the successful completion of the fourth phase of drilling with all four phases combined totalling over 6,000 metres now. The Berkwood team is also pleased to announce that we have drilled a 158.13-metre intersection of graphite mineralization in hole 42 and 102.45 meters in hole 35. We are continuing to unravel the structural and geological disposition of the Lac Gueret South Zone 1 graphite body," said president and CEO Tom Yingling in a statement.

WATCH: Berkwood Resources has big flakes, but in Graphite that’s a good thing

Lac Gueret South is located in Cote Nord, eastern Quebec, and comprises 288 claims, which cover a total area of 15,552 hectares.

According to the Vancouver-based firm, the drilling in phase four focused on expanding knowledge in and adjacent to the previously drilled areas.

Berkwood drilled 16 new NQ diameter diamond core holes for 2,078 m (meters). Of the 16 holes drilled, 13 intersected significant mineralization with one hole having 22.2% continuous graphite (Cgr) over 102.45m, with a high sample grade of 33.88%.

According to the company, during the program, several shallow subcrops of highly graphitic bedrock were exposed and sampled. A channel sample composite over 43 metres returned an average grade of 24.17% graphite.

Aim to advance focused and efficient program

The company said the intersection of multiple wide intercepts continues to encourage it to advance the Lac Gueret South project as rapidly as possible.

"We are continuing to unravel the structural and geological disposition of the Lac Gueret South zone 1 graphite body, so we continue the exciting but painstaking work required as Berkwood endeavours to chart a focused and efficient program to define the potential for an economic resource," said Yinling. "Field crews performed detailed structural logging and analysis of previous drill core. Once complete, we will add this information to our 3-D model of our graphite body, providing a clearer, more detailed picture of the size and geometry of the southwestern portion of our zone 1 graphite body. We are making progress in stages and continue with each successive phase to build on the great results we have enjoyed since discovery."

Shares of Berkwood were at C$0.08 on Tuesday.

Easy access is provided via a major secondary road and numerous tertiary forest roads that run through the property.

The 100%-owned Lac Guéret East Block consists of 38 claims covering 2,052 hectares. Berkwood also has an option to earn a 100%-interest in the Lac Guéret South Block which consists of 106 claims totalling 5,714 hectares. It is now one of the largest landholders in the area.

Contiguous project owned by Mason Graphite is well advanced

Berkwood’s Lac Guéret project directly borders Mason Graphite’s property to the east and south and shares similar prospective geology including along-strike stratigraphic units, structure and geophysical anomalies.

Mason Graphite’s project has at least 75mln tonnes of high grade large flake graphite, and has already demonstrated robust economics showing a US$160mln cost to build the mine, a 2.5 year payback and a minimum of 24 years of mine life.

What’s more, there are significant other graphite showings in the area.

Good recent progress at Lac Guéret

Berkwood has recently completed three drill programs for a total of 4,006 metres. 27 holes were drilled and all hit mineralization, with 26 of the 27 holes having significant graphite intersections. One hole intersected 17.37% Cgr across 130 metres. Graphite grades returned have run as high as 33%.

Drill programme represents a success, says QP

“With the 130 metres intercept near surface and a length-weighted composite grade of 17.37% Cgr, the Phase 3 drill program represents a success,” says Edward Lyons, the company’s project lead and qualified person.

“The importance of the thinner intersections is that they can mark the edges of thicker beds of graphite. Industry and metallurgical experience in highly metamorphic graphitic rocks has shown that the medium and lower graphite grade material can yield higher percentages of coarse flake graphite recovery, making these units potentially of similar economic value. The true widths and persistence of graphite in almost all of Berkwood’s drill holes to date show the potential of the Zone 1 anomaly.”

More work to be done, and money in the bank to do it

Notwithstanding the recent drill success, a large anomalous area remains to be tested, and could add further significant mineralisation to the roster. The company raised C$1.5mln at the beginning of 2018, so is funded for a while yet.

A total of nine holes were drilled in the Phase 3 drill programme with every hole intersecting visible graphite.

READ: Berkwood Resources says eight of nine holes drilled at Lac Gueret South zone 1 had significant graphite intervals

Of the nine holes drilled, eight of them intersected significant mineralisation with one hole having 17.37% Cgr over 130.55m with a true thickness of 87.5m, while grades have been returned as high as 33.88%.

Berkwood said the three drill programmes on its Zone 1 graphite body have found intercepts that support an evolving structural model of multiple recumbently folded horizon(s) hosting thicker and more consistent graphitic intervals of high grade and wide true thicknesses that suggests strong continuity in the system.

The graphite lies near surface to open-pit mineable depths similar to the depths drilled by Mason Graphite for its planned open pit development, which is about eight kilometres to the north-east.

"With the 130m intercept near surface and a length-weighted composite grade of 17.37% Cgr, the Phase 3 drill programme represents a success,” said Edward Lyons, a technical advisor to Berkwood.

<![CDATA[News - Berkwood Resources completes definition drilling programme on zone 1 of Lac Gueret South ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com/companies/news/193324/berkwood-resources-completes-definition-drilling-programme-on-zone-1-of-lac-gueret-south-193324.html Berkwood Resources Ltd (CVE:BKR) has successfully completed its nine-hole Phase 3 definition drilling programme on zone 1 at its Lac Gueret South project.

The programme was designed to constrain the southwestern and southern margins of mineralisation, and to probe aspects of the structural (fold) model being developed for western Zone 1.

Drilling continued to intersect substantial graphite (Cgr), with all nine holes hitting graphite and eight of the holes returning significant intercepts of Cgr, Berkwood said.

"So we begin the exciting but painstaking work required to unravel the structural and geological disposition of the Lac Gueret South Zone 1 graphite deposit, as Berkwood endeavours to chart a focussed and efficient program to define the potential for an economically mineable resource there,” said Tom Yingling, the president and chief executive officer of Berkwood.

“Field crews have been on site at Lac Gueret since early February to perform detailed structural logging and analysis of previous drill core - and we are increasing our structural capabilities through new collaboration with Terrane Geosciences. We are making progress in stages, and continue with each successive phase to build on the great results we have enjoyed since discovery," he added.

“Critically, the exploration potential for a significant graphite deposit continues to be supported by the Phase 3 campaign," Yingling declared.

The continued testing of the western end of Zone 1 supports a model for the graphite horizons probably being folded at the western end of the geophysical anomaly, Berkwood told investors.

Several other examples of similar folding in the basement rocks that are observed within an 8-kilometer radius of the deposit show that bowed fold patterns on the scale of the Zone 1 occurrence are common in the area. Further drill testing is required to continue to define the continuity and structural disposition of the mineralised intervals.

In addition to drilling, and when snow conditions permit, the company is considering an in-hole / intra-hole electromagnetic survey that charges specific graphite horizons which can then be traced between holes and on the surface.

Berkwood said some 258 sawn core samples from Phase 3 drilling are to be shipped to MS Analytical Laboratories in Langley, British Columbia for treatment under the same analytical procedures applied to the samples from previous programs.

Berkwood has retained the services of Met-Solve Laboratories Inc of Langley, British Columbia to initiate mineral processing tests on a suite of graphite mineral samples.

This work is required for metallurgical testing for process design following the positive initial flake sizing results announced on March 8, 2018.

First results should be available around the middle of May.

The results showed the deposit has a "significant" component of coarse large flake graphite, which is a higher value product.

A large portion of the flakes are coarse (20 mesh to 100 mesh) and easily concentrated by a simple gravity process (the light portion being the valuable product).

"These positive results from initial characterization work show a large portion of coarse large flake within the sampled intervals of zone 1 graphite intercepts," said Tom Yingling, president and chief executive.

"This demonstrates that the deposit has a significant component of coarse large flake graphite, a higher value product.

He added: "Further metallurgical testing will be needed to design an efficient graphite concentration process which will be critical to the project economics as we continue to develop this exciting opportunity.

"Further metallurgical studies will build on these initial results. Samples from phase 2 and 3 drilling will be used."

Six composites were prepared from the drill holes, which were representative of the geology outlined through the completion of the earlier drill programmes.

Berkwood said the work will be used to inform the further design of a proposed metallurgical programme.

This larger programme will include samples from all the drilling undertaken through to the completion of the phase 3 programme currently in progress.

On Monday this week, the firm told investors it had resumed resource expansion and definition drilling on zone 1 at Lac Gueret.

The work - a phase 3 programme - includes a planned 1,500 metres (m) of drilling in nine diamond drill holes to further test for strike continuity of mineralisation.

The firm also hopes to improve its understanding of the orientation of the mineralised horizons, and to further define graphite mineralisation at the Zone 1 graphite prospect.

The firm also hopes to improve its understanding of the orientation of the mineralized horizons, and to further define graphite mineralization at the Zone 1 graphite prospect.

The firm added that it was focused on Zone 1 because all 18 holes drilled to date have returned significant graphite intervals.

"Field crews have been on site at Lac Gueret since early February and have been performing detailed structural logging and analysis of previous drill core," said Tom Yingling, president and chief executive.

"This was deemed a critical step to best define how we continue to build on the exciting results from our 2017 drill programs with this next phase of drilling on Zone 1."

During the recently completed 18 hole phase 1 and 2 drill programs on Zone 1 that totalled 2,525 metres, the firm announced it had hit visual graphite in every hole drilled to date.

Earlier this month, the firm increased its footprint at Lac Gueret 25,180 hectares, giving the firm the largest land package in the region.

It came via the acquisition of 1137794 B.C. Ltd, which is a private British Columbia company.

Berkwood Resources shares were unchanged at the time of writing, at C$0.195.

It comes via the acquisition of 1137794 B.C. Ltd, which is a private British Columbia company.

Berkwood will issue 2.8mln shares by way of a share exchange agreement and make a cash payment of C$25,000.

Additionally, the recently acquired land includes coverage of an electromagnetic anomaly associated with Mason Graphite's Lac Gueret project.

The Berkwood project lies directly south of Mason Graphite's advanced Lac Gueret project. Mason is developing one of the largest medium-to high-grade graphite deposits in the world.

As previously reported, Berkwood is currently proceeding with phase 3 drilling at the site, which continues to develop and define the zone 1 graphite zone.

Last week, Berkwood said it was continuing to find high grade graphite at Lac Gueret South.

Five HQ diamond drill holes were drilled at the zone 1 graphite body in this phase 2 program, the firm said, with every hole intersecting visible graphite (Cgr).

Assays showed average grades in the range of 13.64 to 21.86% graphite and true thicknesses ranging from 20.9 to 71.1 metres with shorter high-grade interior graphite intervals.

"I am pleased we have succeeded in demonstrating significant graphite in large true thicknesses in our continuing exploration and evaluation programme," said Tom Yingling, the president and chief executive had said.

Success is exciting..

"Having had success in every one of the 18 holes drilled to date on zone 1 is very exciting.

"On the basis of the announced results, we are proceeding immediately with stage 3 of the drill program, and we are expediting preliminary metallurgical assessment.

"There is substantial as-yet untested strike length as defined geophysically at zone 1. The field project continues to be managed by the same team that made Berkwood's zone 1 discovery."

The zone 1 target is a system with a 2.2km east-west strike length and 0.6 km width. It shows two parallel zones, which may reflect a large-scale fold.

Lac Gueret South lies in Cote Nord, Quebec, which is a three-hour drive from Baie-Comeau in an area with very good infrastructure.

It wants to issue up to 5mln units at 30 cents each. Each unit will consist of one share and one share purchase warrant, with each whole warrant exercisable into one share at 40 cents for two years from closing.

Last week, the group said it was designing an exploration program for its Cobalt Ford property in Quebec.

At Cobalt Ford, Berkwood has already carried out a preliminary review of historic exploration and is now mulling a detailed unmanned aerial vehicle magnetometer survey (UAV-MAG) offered by Pioneer Aerial Surveys Ltd.

This is expected to offer high-quality data for less cost than conventional magnetics, the company said.

The 2,176-hectare Cobalt ford property was historically explored for base metals targeting mafic and ultramafic rocks.

It comes after last month, the group unveiled more positive drill results from the Lac Gueret South project, where it hit one intercept more than 107 meters thick.

At Cobalt Ford, which lies 180km northwest of Baie Comeau, Berkwood has already carried out a preliminary review of historic exploration and is now mulling a detailed unmanned aerial vehicle magnetometer survey (UAV-MAG) offered by Pioneer Aerial Surveys Ltd.

This is expected to offer high-quality data for less cost than conventional magnetics, the company said.

The 2,176-hectare Cobalt ford property was historically explored for base metals targeting mafic and ultramafic rocks.

A drill program was carried out in 2006 by Quinto Technology Inc, which focused on the western half and identified sulphide mineralization as disseminated and stringer occurrences.

The highest values reported by Quinto were 4.64% nickel, 2.37% copper, 0.12% cobalt, 19 parts per billion (ppb) platinum, 110 ppb palladium and 168 ppb gold, over an undisclosed interval.

"Two thousand seventeen was an exceptional year for Berkwood and its shareholders," said Tom Yingling, Berkwood's president and chief executive, who went on to refer to its Lac Gueret project.

"Having hit graphite in each of the 18 holes drilled on our zone 1 graphite body is very exciting and we plan on continuing to drill on the zone 1 graphite body to determine tonnage and the geometry of the deposit.

"I am excited to get started working on our Cobalt Ford property as well.

"As we explore for advanced technology minerals like cobalt, graphite, lithium and vanadium, it is indeed elegant that we will be employing new drone technology that is entirely enabled by new high-tech batteries that themselves are enabled by the minerals we seek."

Berkwood Resources shares dropped 7% in Toronto at C$0.32 each.

The firm has now sunk the first five holes of the phase two drill program on the company's zone 1 graphite body.

On December 8, the firm revealed it had hit an intercept of more than 70 metres in length and close to surface.

But that result has now been surpassed by the firm drilling one intercept of graphite more than 107 metres thick.

"I am very pleased to continue to drill such massive intercepts of graphite, including one of them over 107 metres thick, in an area already successfully proven to have good assays from our phase 1 drill program," said Tom Yingling, Berkwood's president and chief executive.

"Having hit such large intercepts of graphite in all 18 holes drilled to date is helping determine the design, size and geometry of the graphite deposit."

Yingling praised the project's lead Edward Lyons.

"Mr. Lyons has overseen the first two drill programs and plans on continuing in January, 2018. He was key in developing our neighbour Mason Graphite's discovery of one of the largest and highest-grade graphite deposits and soon to be in production mine," he said.

The zone 1 graphite body is a very large conductive and magnetic system with a 2.2 km east-west strike length and 0.6 km width, explained Berkwood.

It shows two parallel zones that may be a large-scale fold. A total of 18 drill holes have been drilled into the zone 1 graphite body.

The firm said 212 sawn core samples were taken from the first five holes of phase 2 and results are expected back in early 2018.

Shares in the company added 7.81% in Toronto to stand at C$0.34 each.

Samples are being saw-cut and will be sent to the lab for analysis at the end of the Phase 2 drill program.

"I am very pleased to have drilled such a massive intercept of graphite in an area already successfully proven to have good assays from our Phase 1 drill program,” said Tom Yingling, the president and chief executive officer of Berkwood.

A series of eight drill holes is planned across the previous north trend to delimit the structures and use a core orientation system to define the actual foliation strikes and dips. These will be completed by December 19th, 2017.

<![CDATA[News - Berkwood Resources to focus on Zone 1 at Lac Gueret South graphite project ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com/companies/news/188140/berkwood-resources-to-focus-on-zone-1-at-lac-gueret-south-graphite-project-188140.html Berkwood Resources Ltd (CVE:BKR) has made Zone 1 a priority at Lac Gueret South after drawing a virtual blank in the Zone 2 anomaly.

The explorer moved the drill from its Zone 2 anomaly back to the Zone 1 graphite body where the company successfully demonstrated average graphite grades in the range of 14.39 to 25.52% Cgr (carbon as graphite) and true thicknesses ranging 22.1 to 40.3 metres (m).

The drill program on Zone 2 was stopped as no significant graphite was intersected.

The Zone 1 graphite body, on the other hand, is a very large conductive and magnetic system with a 2.2 kilometre (km) east-west strike length and 0.6 km width. It shows two parallel zones that may be a large-scale fold.

The phase one drill program on Berkwood's Zone 1 graphite body focused on only a small western portion of the geophysical anomaly, and the company was waiting for the phase one drill program assay results to determine if a Phase 2 drill program would be worth doing on the Zone 1 graphite body.

Significant exploration risk has been mitigated with the assays on the Phase 1 drill program, Berkwood said, and there is still plenty of exploration to be done on the anomaly.

The Phase 2 drill program is commencing on Zone 1 and will continue to test this graphite discovery. Berkwood reckons it will complete up to 2000 metres of drilling for the Phase 2 drill program.

"I am very pleased with the assay results we received from Berkwood's Zone 1 graphite body,” said Tom Yingling, president and chief executive officer of Berkwood.

“Prior to receiving the Zone 1 graphite body assay results, numerous elements of risk still pertained to our graphite discovery. There are always risks in exploration. Now that we have successfully proven that we have large intercepts with good graphite grades, we have mitigated some of them, and the company looks forward to having the drill successfully delineate the size of this graphite body to determine tonnage and geometry,” Yingling added.

Lac Gueret South is located in Cote Nord, Quebec, a three-hour drive from Baie-Comeau in an area of very good infrastructure.

The project lies directly south of Mason Graphite Inc's (CVE:LLG) advanced Lac Gueret Project.

Shares in Berkwood fell three cents to 35 cents on the news.

<![CDATA[News - Berkwood Resources shares soar on positive drill assays from Lac Gueret South ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com/companies/news/187924/berkwood-resources-shares-soar-on-positive-drill-assays-from-lac-gueret-south-187924.html Shares in Berkwood Resources Ltd (CVE:BKR) shot up over 15% in Toronto as it unveiled high grade graphite assays from drilling at the Lac Gueret South project in Quebec.

Thirteen holes were drilled in the first phase drill program at the zone 1 geophysical prospect with every hole hitting visible graphite.

Assays from the lab confirmed high-grade graphite with average grades in the range of 14.39 to 25.52% graphitic carbon (Cgr) and true thicknesses ranging 22.1 to 40.3 metres.

"The analyses show that the thick unit on Section 3100E as well as shorter intervals showed a similar range of grades that occurs at Mason Graphite's Lac Gueret deposit nearby," said Edward Lyons, who has worked extensively on the Lac Gueret property, now owned by Mason.

The drill holes were completed on western three sections 3100E through to 3300E.

The zone 1 target is a conductive and magnetic system with a 2.2km east-west strike length and 0.6 km width.

It shows two parallel zones which may be a large-scale fold.

Significant drill intersections included a 40.4m thick intersection with 21.01% average graphitic carbon, and 36m intersection with 14.68%.

Also in today's release, Berkwood revealed it had expanded its Lac Gueret extensions project (northern blocks) due to the success of the phase 1 drill program, it has decided to immediately acquire further claims.

It has acquired a further 53 claims to extend the previously held 19,884 hectares covered by 368 claims to a new total of 22,739.46 hectares covered by 421 claims.

Berkwood is acquiring 1005% of the Turkey Lake property by payment to 1131348 B.C. Ltd. of 630,000 shares and C$15,000.

Berkwood shares added 6.41% to C$0.42 each on the day.

<![CDATA[News - Berkwood giving itself two shots at success at Lac Guerret South ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com/companies/news/187666/berkwood-giving-itself-two-shots-at-success-at-lac-guerret-south-187666.html Berkwood Resources Ltd (CVE:BKR) has started drilling on the Zone 2 geophysical prospect at the Lac Gueret South Project in Cote Nord, Quebec.

The Zone 2 target is an extensive conductive system, with a strike length greater than two kilometres (km), which displays a number of geophysical similarities with the Zone 1 prospect that is located roughly 3.5 km south-southeast of Zone 2, where the company discovered extensive graphite mineralization earlier this year.

The Zone 1 drill program featured intersections of graphite in each of the 13 holes drilled, and the initial metallurgical assessment is still in progress, Berkwood revealed.

The fall drill program at Zone 2 is fully-financed and the field project is managed by the same team that discovered Berkwood's Zone 1 discovery and the Mason Graphite deposit.

The zone is located adjacent to the Berkwood / Mason Claim boundary, and has not previously been drill-tested.

The plan is for the company to assess whether Zone 2 has the potential to host commercial graphite, and if so, the company will consider the results of this fall drilling program in developing its drilling and metallurgical test work priorities.

“Having had success in every one of the 13 holes drilled to date on Zone 1 is very exciting. We are still awaiting assay results on these holes, and we expect to release these within a few weeks,” said Tom Yingling, president and chief executive officer of Berkwood.

“The geophysics on Zone 2 is comparable with that of Zone 1, which we now know includes graphite (although other conductive and magnetic phases, such as pyrrhotite, were also intersected in drilling).

“The location of the Zone 2 prospect along the Berkwood Mason property boundary is also compelling. Drilling a second, entirely distinct target provides Berkwood shareholders two potential opportunities for success as the company will seek to prioritize the most compelling prospect for ongoing assessment of potential for development.

Shares in Berkwood shot up 6% to C$0.44 on the news.

Berkwood is targeting airborne and ground conductive anomalies at the South's Zone 1 location as part of this initial programme, where two distinct electromagnetic conductors appear to occur over a 2km strike length.

"I am pleased to provide confirmation that we have intersected graphite in all of the thirteen holes in our first drill program," Tom Yingling, the group's president and chief executive, told investors.

"The electromagnetic conductors have proven very effective in identifying mineralized targets for drilling," he added, also thanking the discovery team.

"I look forward to moving the drill over to our Zone 2 target and commencing drilling on it. In addition I look forward to our team developing an effective exploration strategy on Berkwood's recently acquired vanadium property as well as continuing work on our cobalt and lithium projects as well."

The firm also has well developed targets at Lac Gueret South's Zone 2, immediately south of the Mason Graphite claim boundary and along strike from the graphite zones of Mason Graphite.

Zone 2 has not been drilled yet but is fully permitted and drilling is planned for the upcoming phase 2 drill programme.

Berkwood said it had now submitted 381 samples to MS Analytical Laboratories in Langley, British Columbia.

It's been a busy period for the high tech minerals group. Yesterday, it told investors it had acquired the Roscoe vanadium property in Quebec, which consists of 40 claims totalling 21.89 sq km in an area of known iron-titanium-vanadium mineralization.

It was the site of historic work and more recent airborne surveys.

Berkwood is paying C$15,000 and 1.5mln shares to 1129961 B.C. Ltd to buy the project and will own 100% with no royalties attached.

Shares gained 7.94% in Toronto to stand at C$0.34.

The property consists of 40 claims totalling 21.89 sq km in an area of known iron-titanium-vanadium mineralization and was the subject of historic work and more recent airborne surveys.

"We are thrilled to have located the Roscoe property as it begins to fill our ambition of including vanadium in our portfolio of the essential energy storage commodities," said Berkwood chief executive Tom Yingling.

"Vanadium used in flow batteries requires high-quality primary sources of vanadium, and early chemical indications are that the project has great potential and is located in the same great mining jurisdiction as our other compelling battery commodity projects."

Berkwood is paying C$15,000 and 1.5mln shares to 1129961 B.C. Ltd to buy the project and will own 100% with no royalties attached.

Berkwood believes vanadium is on the cusp of being widely adopted for an emerging technology - the vanadium redox flow battery - which is presently the core technology for the world's largest grid-scale battery (200 megawatts, 800 megawatt hours), presently in construction in Dalian, China.

Work in 2012 at the site identified magmatic Fe-Ti+V (iron-titanium-vanadium) oxide mineralization hosted in layered rocks.

Limited sampling returned results up to 1,180 parts per million (ppm) vanadium and 2,330 ppm vanadium at two showings.

The distribution of magnetic ilmenite and titaniferous magnetite rich units and their host rocks are expected to have a distinct geophysical signature.

Shares in Toronto raced up nearly 17% to C$0.31 each.
