Big Picture – A Deep Dive Examination of Klondike Gold Corp.
Klondike Gold Corp. Snapshot
Klondike Gold Corp. is a mineral exploration company with prospective projects in the Klondike Mining District of Yukon Territories.
The Company has been actively exploring in the Yukon since 1980, making it one of the longest standing participants in hardrock exploration in the region. The company currently owns 2,780 quartz claims, a district-spanning 55 km long Klondike Project covering the area of the 1896-1900 Klondike goldfields from which 20 million ounces of gold have been extracted since 1896. The 20 million ounces of gold refers to the total estimated alluvial gold production as calculated by the Yukon Geological Survey from the Klondike area creeks and gravels extracted from 1896 to the present day from the area located within Klondike Gold’s current bedrock mineral claims.
In southeast British Columbia, the Company has a prospective portfolio of gold projects and holds a large land package prospective for ‘sedimentary exhalative’ (Sedex, Sullivan) style mineralization.
The sedex type targets in the region are located in 9 prospective Proterozoic basins. Their importance is based upon the nearby Sullivan Mine, which had a 92 year operating life and produced 18.5 billion pounds of lead, 17.5 billion pounds of zinc and 298 million troy oz. of silver. In today’s terms, the Sullivan Mine produced over 40 billion dollars of base and precious metals.
Gold targets include several past producers and historic placer producers. For example, the Red Point Property is proximal in the Rossland copper-gold camp which produced over 3 million oz. of gold.
