Online retail behemoth Amazon (NASDAQ:) is sure to be in focus today, as its third annual Prime Day kicks off later.
It is a 30 hour sale, which will see prices slashed on thousands of items, and is open to all those Prime members, who subscribe for the service at £79 a year (around US$100).
Most deals will be announced later but some have already reportedly been "leaked" such as two of the group's major products - the Fire tablet and Amazon Echo - a smart speaker.

Amazon shares closed 1.41% higher and are up 0.43% in pre-market deals as the new week begins.
Elewhere, Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) is also speeding into view again after the first of the new mass market vehicles - the Model 3 - has rolled off the production line.
Elon Musk has also posted photos on-line of the car.
In earnings, electrical product maker Helen of Troy Limited (NYSE:HELE) reports quarterly earnings today and the 'Street' expects the group to post earnings of $1.26 a share, on revenue of $358.40mln before the bell. Shares closed Friday 2.39% higher, so they could move higher today.
Meanwhile, insurance group Metlife Inc (NYSE:MET) saw shares gain on Friday and will be in focus again today as it reported the acquisition of Fortress Investment Group’s unit and fund manager Logan Circle Partners for $250mln in cash.
The deal is reportedly expected to close in the third quarter and will be funded with cash and will not affect MetLife's $3bn share buyback program.
On Wall Street, Dow futures are nine points down; S&P 500 futures are 1.25 higher, and Nasdaq futures are 12 points ahead.
