It was a busy day for the small cap miners, as Aureus Mining (LON:AUE) said processing had resumed at its New Liberty gold mine in Liberia with commercial production expected to be declared in January.

The company had announced a temporary cessation of processing at New Liberty after problems with a secondary crusher.

Elsewhere, Metminco (LON:MNC) is now in discussions with what it calls “selected interested parties” in regard to the development of its flagship Los Calatos project.

Meanwhile, it has been a big year so far for junior gold explorer Mariana Resources (LON:MARL) but this is not being reflected in its share price, according to broker Northland, which has upgraded its rating to ‘buy’.

Mariana is in the ultra-high grade gold group of juniors says the broker due to the results from its exploration at Hot Maden in Turkey.

In the energy space, Trinidad-focused Range Resources (LON:RRL) said four new rigs are available for the fourth quarter after it successfully drilled and put into production the MD 42N well.

Canadian Overseas Petroleum (LON:COPL, CVE:XOP), the offshore West Africa focused oiler, said Richard Schmitt had resigned from the board as director with effect from October 31.

Nigeria-focused investor Sirius Petroleum (LON:SRSP) has hired Christopher Neal as a non-executive director with immediate effect, while Ajay Kejriwal leaves the board. 

Staying in the boardroom, oil firm Trinity Exploration (LON:TRIN) said Charles Anthony Brash is stepping down as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Cloud video specialist Forbidden Technologies (LON:FBT) says it has bolstered its commercial capability with the hiring of Jim Irving as a director.

Also in the world of tech, Gaming event specialist Gfinity (LON:GFIN) boosted its registered user base ten-fold as interest in watching the best gamers play surged.

Internet of Things specialist Telit Communications (LON:TCM) announced two new supply contracts.

The contracts are with a couple of tier-one original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) operating in the motor vehicle sector.

Meanwhile, finnCap noted ServicePower's (LON:SVR) news that it has signed a contract with a leading North American insurance provider, "further demonstrating its strength in the insurance sector".

In other news, the recent significant capital outlay by Haydale Graphene (LON:HAYD) is really getting the top line moving north at a rate of knots.

The graphene specialist's results for the year to the end of June showed revenue up to £644,000 from £19,000 the year before, while total income, which includes other income such as government grants, soared more than tenfold to £1.48mln from £129,000.

Elsewhere, Midlands property specialist Real Estate Investors (LON:RLE) has bought three more properties around Birmingham and said rising values in the UK’s second city are rippling outwards.

Finally, Specialist engineer Hayward Tyler (LON:HAYT) said it has completed the acquisition of the trade and assets of the Peter Brotherhood business.
