Strategic Elements Ltd (ASX:SOR) is well-funded with a $7.2 million cash kitty at the end of June 2016, and has now extended its highly successful project with the University of New South Wales.

The project is to further develop the nanocube memory ink technology, and the rate of development is also expected to increase with the project team augmented with additional PhD research support.

The printable nanocube memory ink is looking to be the first commercialised high performance printed memory technology.

The development program is ongoing for the duration of 2016.

Charles Murphy, managing director, commented: “We have been gearing up for a sustained push through to the end of the year.

"The expertise we have started to tap into is assisting tremendously.”

Objective

Strategic Elements said that the immediate objective of the program is to test key aspects of the glass based transparent memory ink prototype.

Memory cell testing, previously revealed the transparent memory ink to be highly reliable and capable of storing and retrieving the same piece of information 100,000 times with no signs of degradation (endurance) to satisfy the harsh requirements for industrial production.

Current work includes testing the speed at which data can be read (speed response) and the length of time data can be retained (retention) for a memory cell created with transparent memory ink on glass.

These parameters are some of the key criteria commonly used to assess the potential of a memory technology.

In addition, the project team is focused on the near term delivery of a further (major) advancement to the nanocube technology with the objective to provide clear differentiation from competitors and generate interest from potential partners.
