Oklo Resources (ASX:OKU) has reported that none of its personnel were affected by the tragic events in Mali at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bamako last Friday 20th November.
Oklo's gold projects are located up to 400 kilometres away and part of a large landholding of eight gold projects covering 1,389 square kilometres in some of Mali’s most prospective gold belts.
Oklo is continuing to work at the gold projects with both reverse circulation and auger drilling scheduled to commence next week. Field crews are currently on site at the Socaf and Dandoko projects preparing drill sites.
At Dandoko, located 30 kilometres from B2Gold Resources’ 5.15 million ounce Fekola gold discovery in west Mali, recently completed surface sampling and aircore drilling programs were highly successful delineating significant alteration and gold mineralisation at all three prospects tested.
At Disse, the best drill intersections included 21 metres at 5.67g/t gold and 3 metres at 12.80g/t gold. While at Selingouma – drilling from within the northern 600 metres of a 6 kilometre long gold-in-soil anomaly intersected wide zones of alteration and gold anomalism with a best intersection of 18 metres at 1.75g/t gold.
At Socaf, which covers 224 square kilometres in west Mali, a regionally significant shear zone hosts no fewer than six major deposits with mineral resources of more than 40 million ounces of gold.
Previous shallow drilling at the project returned a number of encouraging intersections including 8 metres at 4.1g/t gold and 8 metres at 3.5g/t gold.
There is strong potential for further discoveries within this under-explored project area.
A further update on the planned drill program is likely in coming days.
Recently, Oklo garnered strong investor support in the form of a heavily oversubscribed fundraising that saw an oversubscribed $3 million placement with an additional $500,000 to fund an aggressive drilling program at its gold exploration projects in Mali.
