Check-in luggage fees were reduced in September

All Ryanair Holdings PLC (LON:RYA) passengers can take an extra bag of presents with them as they fly this festive period as the group’s efforts to rebuild their image continues.

In the wake of last month’s cancellations crisis, the budget airline has now rolled back some previously announced restrictions on hand luggage.

Ryanair in September reduced its charges for check-in baggage and increased the standard weight allowance as part of an initiative to get more bags in the hold and free up overhead lockers of hand luggage.

An accompanying policy to restrict standard passengers to one carry-on bag – premium fares would still allow two – have now been delayed through until mid-January.

Kenny Jacobs, Ryanair chief marketing officer, said the new arrangement will give passengers more time to familiarise themselves with the new arrangements.

“We have already introduced the first phase of the new bag policy which offers our customers lower bag fees for a 33% increase in their check-in bag allowance,” Jacobs said.

“This will lead to fewer customers with 2 carry-on bags at the boarding gates, which is causing flight delays.“
