Image Scan signs up Brazilian partner

The company has developed a range of 'real-time' x-ray systems used in the security and industrial inspection markets

Image Scan Holdings Plc (LON:IGE) said it had signed up VMI Sistemas to distribute its portable x-ray product in Brazil.

Based in the city of Belo Horizonte, VMI is a security specialist and one the country's leading x-ray manufacturers. Last year it turned over US$40mln.

Chairman Bill Mawer said: "VMI combines the market presence and technical knowledge we need to drive rapid take up of the new portable X-ray products that have been launched from our product development programme."

Image Scan has developed a range of 'real-time' x-ray systems used in the security and industrial inspection markets.

Its portfolio includes the ThreatScan, used to check for bombs and assess suspect packages; the Axis  baggage inspection system; and SVXi, which is used to check small vehicles.

It has also produced a cabinet x-ray system for labs and production lines.
