Jerrick Media Holdings Inc (OTCQB:JMDA) has introduced new features to Vocal, its long-form publishing platform. The platform’s nearly 300,000 creators can now access five new features to help the flow of creative energy and cash.
Vocal uses a proprietary algorithm to track views and monetize stories based on that data. An updated stats page will highlight creators’ most-read articles and the percentage change of views to give better insight into their audience.
Readers can send money directly to creators of content that they enjoy. Formerly known as "Gifting," the feature will now be called “Tipping”. Content creators can view their tips through the new Wallet feature.
A new embed feature will give users some more creative license, allowing them to add external content. YouTube videos, Spotify playlists or a variety of social media posts can be embedded into a story.
A preview feature has been introduced so that creators can get a peek at their work prior to submitting it.
Unlike other social sites, creators submit a draft that is reviewed within 24 hours before it is potentially posted. If a post isn’t approved, users will receive an email explaining the changes required before publishing.
Vocal expects its number of creators to triple over the next 12 months.
Shares of the New Jersey-based company jumped nearly 14% to US$0.24 in Friday morning trading.
