Blackham Resources Ltd’s (ASX:BLK) partner, Salt Lake Potash Ltd (ASX:SO4) has commenced construction of first phase evaporation ponds at Lake Way in Western Australia.

This follows the receipt of the final approval from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER).

The Lake Way Ponds will be the first commercial scale on-lake sulphate of potash (SOP) evaporation ponds in Australia.

The first phase will enable de-watering of the Lake Way Williamson Pit that contains the highest grade brine resource in Australia.

The brine solution in the Williamson pit is the highest grade SOP brine resource in Australia

The initial ponds will have the capacity to hold the Measured Resource of 1.2 gigalitres of Williamson Pit brine at an average SOP grade 25 kilograms per cubic metre which contains an equivalent of 32,000 tonnes premium SOP.

Today’s update follows the October 2018 news regarding receiving approval to dewater the Williamson Pit.
