GNC Holdings Inc (NYSE:GNC), the nutritional supplement group, has unveiled an exclusive tie-up involving e-tail behemoth Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Alani Nutrition, in which it will become an exclusive seller of Alani Nutrition products.
Alani Nutrition is a women's supplement brand, which provides a range of health and sports nutrition products. It will be available online and in GNC stores on March 15.
The tie-up was revealed last month at the Arnold Sports Festival on February 28 in Columbus, Ohio
"With more than 80 years of industry experience, partnering with GNC to become the exclusive retailer of Alani Nutrition was an easy choice," said Katy Hearn, founder of Alani Nutrition. "Being a women-focused company, Alani Nutrition's consumer base is a fairly untapped market for GNC, bringing a new set of unique product offerings to women."
Ken Martindale, CEO of GNC, added that his firm had become a "tremendous accelerator" for up-and-coming brands and helped propel businesses throughout the category to new heights.
"We're proud to be able to work with great partners like Alani Nutrition to introduce exciting new products to our customers."
As at the end of 2018, GNC had around 8,400 locations, of which around 6,200 are in the USA. That includes around 2,200 Rite Aid licensed store-within-a-store locations and franchise operations in around 50 countries.
GNC shares are down 0.74% in New York at the time of writing.
