The company said it is aiming to change its name to CBD Therapeutics Corp, in addition to a ticker symbol change and new website

Empower Clinics Inc (CSE:CBDT) unveiled a host of news on Wednesday that included plans for a new change, a new ticker symbol and a new website.

The company said it will seek shareholder approval to change its name to CBD Therapeutics Corp. It has changed its ticker symbol on the Canadian Securities Exchange to CBDT, effective Thursday.

On Wednesday, the company said it has been repositioning its overall strategy to become a vertically integrated health and wellness company, connecting to its 120,000 patients using a data-driven focus aimed at improving patients' lives through products, technology and health systems.

"Evolving the business model and brand of the company has been an imperative initiative for me on behalf of our shareholders, and the announcement of the company's ticker symbol change and proposed name change reflects our path going forward," said chairman and CEO Steven McAuley.

According to the company, the name change will allow its patients, customers, shareholders, partners, team members and the investment community to have a simple and clear understanding of the company's focus -- a brand that is passionate about cannabidiol-based therapies, products and treatment options.

The company has also launched a new website that better reflects its health and wellness brand, while providing a better browsing experience on desktop and mobile devices. The company said the website will continue to evolve with new content and functionality being added over time, including educational sections, links to an e-commerce store to purchase CBD products and a directory to the company's growing network of clinics.

"We believe the new website will allow us to drive traffic with confidence, knowing our on-line presence tells the story of our brand and provides users access to our extensive knowledge base, product offerings and world-class physicians throughout our network of clinics," said McAuley.

The company said it intends to change the domain name for its website in conjunction with the official name change.
