Security Devices International reloads its board of directors

Dean Thrasher is stepping down, and three new directors have been tapped to take his place

Security Devices International Inc (OTCMKTS:SDEV) (CSE:SDZ), the munitions company behind the non-lethal Byrna device, is boosting its board of directors.

Dean Thrasher, who has served on the board since 2013, is stepping down, and three new directors have been tapped to take his place.

Bill Richards is the managing partner at WBR Advisors LLC, and he serves as an independent director or senior advisor to a variety of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. He brings more than 40 years experience in the financial sector.

Beatrice Mitchell is the managing director of Sperry, Mitchell & Company, an independent mergers and acquisitions advisory firm that she co-founded. She also co-owns Percival Scientific, a manufacturer of biological incubators and plant growth chambers based in Iowa.

Herbert Hughes is the CFO of Wormhole Labs, a tech company focused on augmented reality and e-sports. He also works as a managing director for HHM Capital, a personalized banking and investment advisory company.

“The company is grateful for Dean's years of service. We will miss him and wish him the best in his new endeavors,” CEO Bryan Ganz said. “The addition of Bill, Bea and Herb gives us depth and breadth of experience as well as independent guidance. Their financial expertise and business backgrounds will help guide and support our entry into the consumer market and what we anticipate will be a period of great demand and rapid growth for non-lethal weapons and munitions."

New CFO

Separately, the Wakefield, Massachusetts, company named Stan Baumgartner its new CFO. He most recently served as CFO of SIG Sauer, a firearm manufacturer that supplies the US Army.

Security Devices International manufactures the Byrna HD device, a non-lethal weapon that fires rounds of chemical irritant projectiles.

Its shares were flat Tuesday at C$0.21 on the CSE and climbed 2.1% to $US1.6 on OTC Markets.
