CentralNIC Group makes .COM.SE domains available

A new web domain became available for Swedish web sites on Wednesday afternoon as an alternative to the established .SE.

The COM.SE, powered and operated by registry service provider CentralNIC (LON:CNIC), is a sub-domain of the .SE top level domain (the bit after the final dot in a web address), and its availability will free up a tremendous number of domain names.

For example, Muppets fans who found that swedishchef.se had already been taken will now have the opportunity to apply for swedishchef.com.se.

More seriously, names like mobile.com.se and travel.com.se now become available.

Ben Crawford, chief executive of CentralNic, said: "Whether you are a Swedish company or an overseas company seeking to access the Swedish market, you will find the domain name you want available with the extension .com.se."

COM.SE domains will be available on a first come, first served basis via www.com.se .
