Curis Resources (TSE:CUV) announced Tuesday further drill results from its Florence copper project in central Arizona, showing improved grades from the current deposit model.

The three holes reported form part of a six hole program designed to confirm mineral characteristics of certain blocks within the Florence deposit model, as part of the current feasibility study.

"The results of this drill program show an improved grade and further confirm the geological structure in a portion of the Florence Copper deposit," said president and CEO, Michael McPhie.

"We are particularly encouraged by the copper grades which are better than what previous drilling had recorded for the same test block.

"The drilling program has contributed to the feasibility work by increasing our confidence in and knowledge of the Florence deposit."

Indeed, the feasibility study and permitting for the project continue to advance on target, and are expected to complete in the fourth quarter of this year.

Results from the three holes included 346.0 feet of 0.37% copper in hole CMH11-01; 329.3 feet of 0.58% copper in hole CMH11-02; and 328 feet of 0.48% copper in hole CMH11-03A.

The three holes are located in the south central part of production block 72, in the deposit model used for a preliminary economic assessment last year. The average copper grade of the oxide zone in the holes is 0.47%, compared with calculated model grades of 0.43% for the same block.

The six hole core drilling program was completed earlier this month, and consisted of these three holes in the area of the company's planned phase one development program for the project, two holes on Arizona state land under lease to Curis, and one hole in the area of the former BHP Copper in-situ recovery well field that was operated in 1997.

The phase one development of the planned in-situ copper recovery operations is intended to start in early 2012.
