Snack time: Salt adhesion is apparently a tricky problem for crisp makers

The investment firm Tekcapital PLC (LON:TEK) said its portfolio company Salarius has filed for an additional patent to protect its low-sodium salt.

Salarius’ application is focused on the composition of its MicroSalt product in a way formulated that allows it to stick to surfaces more readily using electrostatic force.

"In addition to MicroSalt's current disruptive technology which helps consumers reduce sodium consumption, we have taken a step forward to help solve a critical challenge for snack manufacturers: improving salt adhesion to their food during shipping and display," said Victor Hugo Manzanilla, chief executive of Salarius.

MicroSalt is made with micron-size salt particles that dissolve in the mouth significantly faster than regular salt, delivering an increased sensation of saltiness with much less salt.
