alphaDIRECT Advisors has taken a look at Ballard Power Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BLDP) (CVE:BLDP) after the firm launched its new eighth generation heavy-duty fuel cell in June this year.
Following an interview with Nicolas Pocard, director of marketing at Ballard Power Systems, alphaDIRECT’s founding partner Shawn Severson pointed out in a report that the new fuel cell power module - part of Ballard’s FCmove family – has the key objective of being a reduced product lifecycle cost, which he said is essential for the commercialization and competitiveness of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).
In addition, Severson – a Wall Street veteran and research analyst – noted that the new power module is also easier to integrate for vehicle original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
He pointed out that Ballard believes the new product received a great response when it was initially launched at the UITP 2019 Exhibition in Stockholm.
Severson commented: “We believe that Ballard’s unique mix of on-road experience and performance data on buses and trucks, along with technical innovation, are all reflected in the new FCmove heavy duty power module.”
“Ballard estimates that there will be approximately 20,000 fuel cell commercial vehicles (buses and trucks) on the road by 2023, providing a significant revenue opportunity in our view,” he concluded.
