Security Devices International Inc (CSE:SDZ) (OTCMKTS:SDEV) announced Friday that it will make its Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut as the co-primary sponsor of Rick Ware Racing at the Federated Auto Parts 400 stock car race on September 21, at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Virginia.
The company said the widely viewed race will be broadcast on Saturday at 7.30 pm ET on NBCSN with a radio broadcast on MRN radio.
The Wakefield, Massachusetts-based company said in a statement that it will display Byrna HD products at Booth No. 42 in the Richmond Raceway.
USAC Triple Crown winner Christopher Beltram Hernandez, nicknamed J J Yeley, will drive the #52 Byrna Ford Mustang. He is the second driver to ever win the USAC Triple Crown and be the all-time single season USAC winner.
In a statement, Rick Ware said: “We are excited to have Byrna back with us for Richmond. The company and its partners are working hard to get the word out about their home protection option, and we want to be a part of that effort."
Marketing to NASCAR fans
The Byrna HD is designed for home defense and personal security. Similar in size to a lethal handgun, the device comes with multiple, easily reloadable magazines that can hold .68-caliber training rounds or payload rounds designed to burn an assailant’s eyes and respiratory system upon contact.
"We're excited to continue the relationship with Rick Ware Racing this season. We encourage all race fans to come by the booth and learn more about Byrna," said Bryan Ganz, president of Security Devices.
Race fans can check out Byrna's products and participate in promotional drawings all day Friday and Saturday at Booth 42 in the Midway, outside the racetrack next to the ticket stands. Racecar driver JJ Yeley will visit the Byrna booth both days to meet fans, sign autographs and take pictures. He will be there at the booth between 3.15 pm and 3.45 pm on Friday, and between 4.30 pm to 5 pm on Saturday.
Sales of the Byrna HD fired up record preliminary sales for the third quarter which totaled nearly $309,150. Sales were helped immeasurably by a product review by Sootch00, a well-known gun reviewer with over 850,000 YouTube subscribers. The video released on July 15 effectively demonstrated the incapacitating effects of the Byrna Black chemical irritant round.
While the Byrna HD is not a firearm under federal law and does not require a federal gun license, state laws and local ordinances may regulate its possession in certain localities, according to Security Devices.
The Byrna has a starting price of $349 and is available in several colors. It can be bought online and shipped home.
