St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) has received assays from soil sampling at the Fish Hook Prospect within its flagship Mt Alexander Project in Western Australia.

The soil survey has identified a large geochemical anomaly, coincident in nickel, copper and chromium.

A MLEM survey will now be completed over Fish Hook to search for any conductors that may represent nickel-copper sulphides.

This survey will also be completed at a number of other unexplored or underexplored areas of the Cathedrals Belt.

The areas to be covered by the survey include Fish Hook, West End, Bullets and Stricklands.

The Mt Alexander Project is made up of five granted exploration licences which host a number of key prospects along the 16-kilometre strike of the Cathedrals Belt, pictured below.

Notably, Fish Hook is interpreted to be located along the eastern extension of the mineralised trend that hosts the known nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation at the more advanced prospects of Investigators, Stricklands, and Cathedrals.

Growing opportunities at Mt Alexander

St George’s executive chairman John Prineas said: “Our systematic exploration programmes continue to successfully scope out the scale of the large mineral system at the Cathedrals Belt.

“The soil survey results at Fish Hook are very encouraging because they have identified a new anomalous trend 5km east of the known nickel-copper mineralisation at the Cathedrals Belt.

“This is an area that we believe is prospective for a greenfields discovery.

“We are also pleased to be rolling out a new moving loop EM survey at Fish Hook and other unexplored areas of the Cathedrals Belt where there is strong potential to generate more EM targets for drill testing.

“The seismic survey is another exciting initiative with the potential to deliver an exploration breakthrough that could assist us to better understand the controls and distribution of the high-grade mineralisation along the Belt.”

Hole MAD172 being drilled now at Investigators

Diamond drilling is continuing with MAD172 currently in progress at Investigators.

The hole is targeting an EM plate modelled with conductivity of 25,000 Seimens and predicted to be intersected at 260m downhole.

Holes MAD169, MAD170 and MAD171 have been completed at Investigators since the last exploration update on 29 October 2019.

A DHEM survey will be completed in all three holes to search for further mineralisation around the holes as lab assays remain pending.
