Auryn Resources Inc (TSE:AUG) (NYSEAMERICAN:AUG) says it has made an "exceptional" start to exploration at its Curibaya project in southern Peru as it posted results from the first surface sampling program at the Sambalay and Salvador concessions.
The results extend the recently reported high-grade surface results last month from the 4.5 sq km alteration zone by 1.5 km to the west, the company said.

Highlight assays included up to 7,990 grams per ton (g/t) silver, 17.65 g/t gold and 6.97% copper, said Auryn.
"The abundance of high-grade sampled and the large mineralized footprint we have identified are an exceptional start to the Curibaya project," noted the executive chairman and director Ivan Bebek.
"The grade endowment over a three kilometer by two kilometer area is impressive when considering the location of the project, within one of Peru's most prolific mining belts."
He added that the aim was to drill Curibaya for the first time in the fourth quarter of next year after the Sombrero drill program, which it expects to start in the first quarter of 2020.
The resource group holds seven projects and the two flagships are the Committee Bay high-grade gold project in Nunavut, Canada and the Sombrero copper-gold project in southern Peru.
Initial rock sampling
Last month, the group unveiled initial rock sampling results from the recently-acquired Sambalay and Salvador concessions, which were taken from the 1.5 km by 3 km area.
They included more than 20 samples with more than 200 grams of silver per ton (g/t) and multiple results above 15,000 g/t silver and as much as 7.67 g/t gold.
Today, Auryn released results from re-running the three rock samples that were over-limit, being greater than 1,500 g/t silver.
Returned were 1,630 g/t silver, 1,855 g/t silver and 3,110 g/t silver, said the company.
Shares zoomed up 6.18% in Toronto to stand at C$1.89 on the day.
