Itaconix PLC -

Sustainable polymers specialist Itaconix PLC (LON:ITX) has unveiled a new line of functional additives derived from itaconic acid.

Developed over the last three years, the BIO*Asterix range can be used across a number of product areas, including paints and biodegradable plastics; the latter being the basis for the initial commercial push.

The additive can provide valuable properties or overcome performance deficiencies that currently limit the use of biodegradable plastics, Itaconix said.

"BIO*Asterix represents a broad new frontier for Itaconix and the value of itaconic acid chemistries,” said chief executive John Shaw.

“We are confident from the early success of customer trials that our new BIO*Asterix products will become key additives in numerous applications and generate new revenues in the years to come. We look forward to reporting progress as our efforts advance."
