Carnival Corporation - Carnival says coronavirus to have a “material impact” on results

Carnival Corp (NYSE:CCL LON:CCL) said measures to contain coronavirus are set to have a “material impact” on results for the year to November.

The cruise operator had to suspend activities at ports in China resulting in the cancellation of voyages in other parts of Asia.

The dual New York and London listed said a suspension of all Asian operations to the end of April would hit 2020 results by US$0.55 to US$0.65 per share, including guest compensation.

In the year to 30 November, earnings per share came in at US$4.34.

The full extent of the damages will be understood once the outbreak is over, the cruise company added, while it evaluates plans to mitigate the blow.

Shares rose 2% to 3,193p on Wednesday afternoon.
